I would love to try reviving this tribe a bit ... I've got a small but wonderful collection of vintage photos. (When I say small it's TINY compared to most of yours, I'm sure, but it's curated according to very specific criteria, and a teeny budget) ... I'd like to share some or all of it ...

... I think I can just post a picture but then how do I let people know I've done that? Do I post separately and they post here and say "Hey y'all, go check it out?" Yes, my lack of experience is showing. And my socks don't match. I prefer to think of it as charmingly anachronistic, not embarassing.

Thanks,

I worked for an archive for a while transcribing letters from the 1850s (my fave day job ever), and ever since that project, I find that I want to make up lives and stories for the photos I've adopted. I sometimes name the people in them, or take the names written in the long-gone,gorgeous script that none of us seem to have anymore and wonder about who they were, where the lived, why they had the photo taken, and who they were sending them to. Particularly for the formal portraits I've found.

For the quirky group shots, the blurry-in-the-orchard-making-a-face-in-1918 shots, I just wish myself back there for a day. I long to hear the conversations being had and the laughter being shared.

Does anyone else do this or something similar?

(And then of course, there is the "I want the clothing in this picture" lust...but that's a different thing entirely. *grin*)
